Kevin Plank, CEO of Under Armour, is expanding his reach with a business endeavor far from athletic apparel. True to hopes that the Under Armour presence would garner economic growth and a positive impact on the city, the Port Covington neighborhood will soon be graced with a new distillery. Sagamore Spirits, the moniker that Plank chose, is expected to bring more than 600 new jobs with just the construction phase- which Plank hopes will be just the beginning. The rye whiskey should hit shelves in 2016 after several years of aging.
