Prime waterfront Fells Point property eyed for 300 apartments, townhomes

2001 Aliceanna Street, the 3.5 acre lot that sits along the Fells Point Waterfront, is being proposed for apartments and townhomes by owner Elm Street Development.

It is currently the site of a warehouse and a parking lot being rented out by the National Aquarium for large fish tanks.

This plan would convert the existing 184,962 SF building into a parking garage. It would then build three stories atop the warehouse that would hold 277 apartments. On the adjacent surface parking lot, the developer plans a mix of 23 townhouses and condos, says Jim Mobley, a project manager for Elm Street Development.

No Way Jose Café to Rebrand By the End of October

No Way Jose Café, which was bought by Blue Agave in February 2016, will be debuting a new concept that includes a new menu and name. They plan to reveal this new concept in an upcoming soft opening, where they will focus on “providing simple, delicious food and uncomplicated drinks in an atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone.” They wanted to break away from the trend of the sophisticated and upscale restaurants that have been opening throughout the city, and stick to the locations “friendly, fun and simple feel.”

Exclusive Look Inside Highland Haus

The site where the former Haussner’s was located is now a 65-unit modern apartment complex. The restaurant, which closed in 1999, was “basically a mess” said developer Peter Garver, who wanted to try to keep pieces of the restaurant alive in the new building. They did manage to save pieces of art that were painted and engraved on stone, which now hang in the complex’s fifth-floor rooftop lounge. There are also stained-glass “H” windows that once sat at the main entrance of Haussner’s.

COPT’s Canton Project Could be Sped Up by Commitment from Amazon

There has been a lot of talk of where Inc is going to set up its second headquarters. With Maryland still in the running, Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT) says it’s $1 billion mixed use development project would “unquestionably” jumpstart if Amazon chooses the state for HQ2. COPT’s 10 acre plan includes 1.1 million SF of Class A offices, retail and restaurants, a 400 ft apartment tower, a 300 room hotel and a 200 slip marina. COPT’s CEO Stephen E. Budorick says the growth in workforce HQ2 could bring would be “great for our residential development community and be great for the ancillary businesses that want to be nearby to be a part of the economic benefit of having secondary campuses.”

414 Light Street: A Bit of Miami, New York & LA

Baltimore’s latest up-and-coming apartment complex, 414 Light Street, will have a “unique mix of modern, rustic, artistic chic and urban cutting edge” says interior designer Kari Whitman. Whitman, whose clients range from Jessica Alba and Kristen Bell to the royal family of Saudi Arabia, thinks the apartment complex will help “change Baltimore a lot, boasting timeless, modern, green and artistic building elements.”

With the first tenants set to move in in March, the leasing office is feeling enthusiastic. The complex will offer features such as a saltwater pool, two outdoor chef’s kitchens and a large outdoor movie screen all overlooking the waterfront on one end and Camden Yards on the other end.

Goldman Sachs invests $233M in Port Covington

Kevin Plank’s 5.5 billion redevelopment project, Port Covington, now has a new joint owner in Goldman Sachs. The $233M investment was seen as a turning point in the development process says Tom Geddes, CEO of Plank Industries. “It represents progress for Port Covington and delivering on the promise to bring outside capital to Baltimore,” Geddes said.

Vegan Restaurant Week Comes to Baltimore

While the yearly tradition of restaurant week is nothing new to Baltimore’s residents and local restaurants, the idea of having a vegan/vegetarian restaurant week is. Gatsby-era Restaurant To Open In Four Seasons

Bygone, the latest restaurant from the Atlas Restaurant Group, will be opening this winter on the rooftop of the Four Seasons in Harbor East.

“It will truly be a unique property not only to Baltimore, but to the entire East Coast,” said owner Alex Smith. The restaurant will offer expansive views of Baltimore and nationally renowned DJ’s with a Gatsby-era feel. The decor will will pull from the “bygone” era of America, which includes the 1920s and 30s, and featuring classing upscale American grill cuisine.

The expected opening date is Winter 2017.
